Challenge:
Beginning in 2004, Reputation Partners was engaged by this leading Chicago-based mid-market investment bank to increase awareness of the Firm, develop new and grow existing media and client relationships, and support deal-flow activities within targeted mid-market industries. The firm had a compelling story to tell, but was being overshadowed by larger, publicly-traded firms with larger deal size and greater general awareness.

Reputation Partners was also engaged to manage the launch of the firm’s international brand and expansion to Frankfurt, London, Los Angeles, Madrid, New York, Paris and Vienna.

Strategy/Implementation:
We developed annual strategic communications plans, building on the successes from prior years, to position the firm’s managing directors as expert thought leaders in mid-market M&A. We conducted extensive media relations activities to enhance the firm’s share of voice on critical deal making issues and trends impacting current/potential clients in the U.S. and abroad. With a particular emphasis on national business/financial press, private equity industry media, and client industry trade publications, we leveraged the investment bank’s managing directors’ specific industry expertise to garner international media attention as well as coverage in niche areas such as building products, chemicals and business services.

Results:
Since 2004, Reputation Partners has grown relationships with target reporters and publications and has secured hundreds of positive media clips that help to differentiate the firm from its competitors and grow its business. High profile coverage of the firm can be found in key business/financial media (Chicago Tribune, Crain’s, Reuters, Wall Street Journal), private equity/M&A trade publications (Buyouts, The Deal, M&A Journal, Private Equity Analyst, Private Equity International), and vertical industry trade publications such as Chemical Week, Building & Construction and Refrigerated & Frozen Foods.
