The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is an independent, not-for-profit organization that champions nursing regulatory solutions to borderless health care delivery, agile regulatory systems and nurses practicing to the full scope of their education, experience and expertise.
Every two years, NCSBN conducts the only national-level survey specifically focused on the U.S. nursing workforce. Its 2022 Workforce Study revealed that 100,000 nurses left the workforce during the pandemic and by 2027, almost 900,000, or almost one-fifth of 4.5 million total registered nurses, reported an intent to leave the workforce – threatening the national health care system at large if solutions are not enacted.
With the collected data signaling significant nursing workforce shortages and a crisis in the health care industry at large, NCSBN engaged Reputation Partners to implement a strategic public relations campaign to release the 2022 Nursing Workforce Survey results to relevant stakeholders, including national media, U.S. health systems, federal and state public policy makers and nursing academia.
Our team released the study at a research event and stakeholder-led panel in Washington D.C., home to key health care and national media, decision leaders and policy makers.
Leading up to the event, we worked with NCSBN to identify panelists with a vested interest in the future of the nursing industry to review the research and provide potential solutions to the nursing workforce crisis. The full panel included the following individuals:
Furthermore, we regularly coordinated with top-tier media to tease out key insights under embargo, so
they were prepared to cover the research once released to the public.
As a result of our work, mentions of the NCSBN Workforce Study appeared across top-tier national, broadcast, print and online media:
