Overview

As a world leader in nursing regulation and nursing workforce research, The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) released its biennial Workforce Study, surveying 800,000 nurses to understand the state of the workforce since the previous study revealed a workforce crisis following the COVID-19 pandemic. Through comprehensive research, NCSBN found that nearly 40% of nurses reported an intent to leave the workforce or retire within the next five years.

In order to help communicate these issues broadly, RP helped coordinate a multi-faceted media relations approach – comprised of earned media outreach, a virtual media tour (VMT), a news release distribution, social media content support and more.

Strategy

  • Leverage the VMT in addition to proactive media outreach – allowing RP to streamline efforts, drive meaningful conversations, and achieve maximum impact for NCSBN’s story.
  • Conduct targeted media outreach under embargo with top-tier reporters who covered the previous Workforce Study and are most likely to deliver highly nuanced, contextual reporting of the latest report.
  • Effectively communicate key messages that position NCSBN as a solution-minded leader helping to improve and grow the nursing workforce across the nation, backed by exclusive, comprehensive NCSBN research.
