Academy of Management

Type: Expert Panel

Academy of Management

The Academy of Management (AOM) is the largest global association devoted to management and organization research, with 20,000 members from more than 120 countries across six continents. AOM publishes several academic journals, organizes international conferences and provides forums for management professors and practitioners to exchange research, insights and ideas on the advancement of management and organization topics.

Key Highlights:

  • Created and executed 15 scholar-led panels across 2021-2024 that brought together top global scholars to discuss the latest trending topics within the management and organization fields.
  • Increased engagement and visibility to AOM website and social media channels through consistent strategic content.
  • Drove media coverage by inviting top tier media contacts and promoting across all AOM owned digital channels.

Overview

AOM, the world’s largest scholar organization focused on management science, engaged RP to provide ongoing communications support to enhance brand awareness, visibility and media coverage. To support these objectives, RP and AOM launched the AOM Subject Matter Expert (SME) program, designed to boost member engagement and leverage expertise. This collaboration led to the creation of the “AOM Scholars On…” SME panel series, which brings together AOM scholars and business practitioners from across the globe to explore how research intersects with current business trends and the evolving landscape.

Strategy

AOM and RP launched the “AOM Scholars On…” SME panel series to spotlight the real-world value of AOM-published research and bridge the gap between academic and mainstream audiences. The series taps into the expertise of subject matter experts (SMEs) and business practitioners to offer timely insights tied to trending news cycles.

In addition to amplifying research relevance, the panel series was designed to strengthen member engagement, recruitment, and retention by creating a consistent, public platform for scholar-led discussions throughout the year. Each panel tackled pressing workplace trends and challenges, offering actionable strategies on topics spanning management, organizational behavior, and higher education.

RP supported the program from ideation through execution—including organizing panels, promoting them through targeted media outreach, and developing related social media content. The “AOM Scholars On…” series consistently delivered timely, relevant, and practical insights on topics such as:

  • Navigating the post-pandemic workplace (2021)
  • Leading the sustainable way forward (2022)
  • Top 2023 trends in the future of work (2022)
  • Employee engagement best practices in today’s workplace (2023)

  • Steps organizations can take to create happier and more fulfilled employees (2024)
